The feeling of making a photo

I feel the earth. To feel the photo.

It’s not always clear why I want to make a photo. It’s not always because of the image an sich. Sometimes it’s the action itself that’s almost more important.

When I made this photo I had to lie down. I wanted to feel the warm stones under my stomach. The feeling of getting close to the small plants and grasses that live closer to the earth.

It’s low-perspective photography for sure. But I do not really care for such names. It’s not the technical aspects of making a photo that interests me.
I want to get a feeling of connection with the earth. The rocky stones and dried-up leaves.  That’s why I laid down. First to feel the earth. To see and experience the earth in a different way. Closer, not only connected with my feet but also with other body parts.

To lay down on the ground and to connect with the earth is a good feeling. It’s as if you’re closer to the planet. You’re perspective changes literally and figuratively. many plants and flowers are on eye level. You feel closer to them.

The photos I make low on the ground are a result of this feeling of connection. But I had to lay down, and feel the earth, listen to the wind, and look into the eye of the sun to make this photo. To feel the photo.
The grass and small plants do this every day for a living.
