Dancing on the edge of Artificial Inteligence.
Artificial intelligence is entering our homes super fast. The machine learning helps us with writing, science, photography.
AI and photography are mind-boggling and perspective-changing combinations. Perhaps as big ad the gap between painting and photography or even bigger.
It will change how we will look at photos and how we will make photos.
We use to have the feeling that a photo represents reality. It does not, but we feel that it is the truth. We believe in photos. The photos in newspapers often highlight the credibility of a written article. Photos manipulate the way you think about articles. You can make a photo of a laughing president or a stressed-out one. It will direct your mood and feelings.
Although the truth of a photo was already questionable as it is always a selected part of the 360º picture. An AI photo will throw reality and truth completely out of the window.
I guess we will adjust our expectations. Photographers will integrate IA in their work. And already do by sharpening images and etc.
It will change photography but you don’t have to use it. Just as you can choose to shoot film instead of digital. You can paint instead of shooting film.
It’s all about choice. And it always was.
Why do you make the photo like this. What’s your story, your personal attachment to the subject? An AI on itself does not give a context. (Not yet) It’s just a tool, and with all tools you have to use them correctly in the way you want. Using a tool for the sake of the tool is empty.
In the end, the artist who uses AI correctly controls it and directs it. He/She is the creative person behind the work. The AI is not creative if it is not given an order. A human being is creative without being told to do so.
